Esports in Malaysia — From Hobby to Billion-Ringgit Industry

If you're based in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur, you've probably witnessed first-hand just how fast the esports scene has grown in Malaysia over the past few years. From cyber cafes in Ara Damansara to esports arenas at Mid Valley, the Malaysian gaming community is bigger and more serious than ever. And it's not just the players — spectators, fans, and now esports bettors are all part of the picture.

Sports 888 recognised this potential early and built an esports betting platform that truly understands the Malaysian market. This isn't a copy-paste job from an overseas platform — we offer markets for local leagues like MPL Malaysia (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang), the most popular esports league among Malaysian players. When Malaysian teams compete on the international stage, Sports 888 has the latest odds ready so you can back them all the way.

What sets esports betting apart from traditional sports is the depth of knowledge you can bring to the table. If you're an active MLBB player, you likely understand the current meta, hero strengths, and team playstyles better than most conventional sports analysts. Sports 888 gives you the chance to turn that knowledge into real returns. This isn't just guesswork — it's informed betting backed by a genuine understanding of the games you love.

MLBB MPL Malaysia — The Nation's Premier Esports League

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is the most popular esports title in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The MPL Malaysia league, running every season, delivers fierce competition among the country's top teams — including Geek Fam, RSG Malaysia, Todak, and XSET Malaysia. Sports 888 provides full coverage for every MPL MY match, with dozens of different markets per game — from straightforward options like Match Winner to more specific ones like First Blood, Total Kills, and Game Handicap.

When Malaysian teams advance to international stages like the M-Series or MSC (Mid-Season Cup), Sports 888 will be there with full coverage and competitive odds. It's the perfect time to show your support for the national team while giving yourself a real chance to win.

Dota 2 — The World's Biggest Tournament with the Highest Prize Pool

The International, Dota 2's annual tournament, consistently features a prize pool exceeding USD 40 million — making it one of the highest-paying sporting events in the world, surpassing many traditional sports. Sports 888 provides full coverage for TI and all Dota 2 Majors throughout the year, with in-depth markets covering Match Winner, Total Kills, First Roshan, and much more. For Dota 2 players who know their hero strengths and draft strategies inside out, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

For Malaysian players trying esports betting for the first time, Dota 2 is a great place to start — the local community is highly active and plenty of strategy discussions can be found in Bahasa Malaysia. Sports 888 also provides a quick guide on how to read esports odds and the types of markets available, so you can get started with confidence.
